We are starting construction on the pool today. The first step is draining the pool. We are going to visit a house that the pool constrution company did to get an idea of their work and the color we are leaning towards. Hopfully we will decide on coping and tile today as well. The one thing that won't be done this year is moving and redoing the retaining wall. That will be next summer.

I thought it would be fun to show the pool under constrution ;)

Bad things under the house

Sooooo. . . there has been a strange noise under our house for a while. At first we thought it was the water heater just being loud. Then the noise seemed to get louder. John noticed at around the same time a strange noise coming from one of the phone jacks in the living room. Deep down I knew something was not right, I just could not put my finger on it.

Yesterday I watched Myth Busters with the boys. It was the episodes about the water heater rocket. Basically people plug up the safety valve because it is leaking (which is what it's supposed to do), pressure builds up because the safety valve is plugged and the water heater explodes. Or turns into a rocket.

So this is in my head and add to that I am watching a scary movie and can hardly hear it over this loud noise in the house, PLUS John is away on a business trip and you get a VERY paranoid Eva.

Today I called our handyman and said something is very wrong. I don't know what it is but something is WRONG. He came and looked around and listened to the noise. First he tried flushing the water heater, sometimes the sediment can make noise. Nope that was not the problem. Then one by one he turned off and on various faucets while I listened for the noise. The last thing we tried was turning off the water to the entire house. OMG. The noise was gone. Then he wanted to see under the house so I emptied the hall closet and lifted the crawl space door. I nearly cried. There was a pool of water under the house!

Apparently we have had a substantial leak that has been spraying the under side of the house for at least 3 months. :(

I found a recipe on the internet for flourless peanut butter cookies that intrigued me but i decided to go wild and try the sunflower seed butter i got from Trader Joe's. That is just how i roll, know what i mean?

Peanut Butter cookies

1 cup peanut butter (i used sunflower seed butter)
1 cup sugar (I used 1/4 cup splenda, 1/4 cup brown sugar splenda blend)
1 egg

Mix and bake 8 min. (Mine took 10) in a 350 oven.

I also added 1/2 t vanilla

Enjoy! LOL I Did. (i made 20 cookies but as you can see some were eaten before the picture was taken)

Eventually he made it out of the pool ;)

Dream or Nightmare

I'm dreaming about knitting. I think it's because I'm hoping the shrug I am working on turns out okay. I'm having lots of trouble with it. Most of the errors i have made are just careless slips. I've had to rip part of it out three times now. What i need to do is sit without tv or games and just get it done. The lace pattern is not to hard so i should be able to get it done in a couple of sittings. I also need to figure out how to do mattress stitching. It could not be any worse then kitchner's stitch so i don't forsee a problem, LOL. Well I may have just jinxed myself ;)

Heat Wave

The last couple of days have been very hot, in the 90's. We have been swimming most evenings. That defiantly cools us off. Soon we will be remodeling our pool. I am not sure how long it will take. We might wait until fall but if rain will be a problem then we may have to give up some swimming days. It will be nice to have a new pool though.

We have had a wonderful visit with Gran. she has been here since last Wednesday. For mothers's day we took each other to a tea room. I decided to take her a bit early so the tea room would not be so busy and loud. That was so fun and surprisingly filling. You can't imagine how those little tiny sandwiches can fill you up. The next day, Friday, we went looking for a fondue pot. It was a bit difficult to find but finally we found it at Best Buy. Then we went to the farmers market on Sunday. Most of the week we took it easy and did some shopping. I think this weekend we are going to the coast for some seafood and maybe a visit to the beach.

Also while Gran visited i made her a knitted kitty.

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend. It started with some cleaning because we are having a very important guest coming to visit :) Then the rest of the day was spent playing! Sunday we woke up and headed to the farmers market in Campbell. We decided to eat there instead of Stacks our usual brunch spot. There is a myriad of choices every weekend, Mexican, crapes, Chinese, Indian, sausages and more. John decided on lamb curry and we all tried some vegetable somosa's. As we strolled down the market, Max wanted something to drink. I spied a coffee shop and we went in. If your tired of the Starbucks experience this coffee spot is for you. First off it was large and airy with couches as well as tables and chairs. It reminded me of Dugen's Deli a bit. Very down to earth, kinda funky meets cool meets high tech (they had several computers in one corner). Well Dugen's did not have computers and it was usually really dark but yeah, well hmm i guess not like it at all really. Unfortunately i did not catch the name. It is on the street they have the farmers market and it is on a corner and it is not Starbucks. LOL.

After me made some purchases we headed home. Along the way we noticed canopies and lots of people gathering in a large parking lot near the Bevmo. We decided to stop and see what was going on. It was a RC car racing event. There is a RC store in the strip mall close by and my guess is they where sponsoring some kind of racing event. We parked and watched a couple of races. It was amazing! I can't believe how fast they were going. John was sure they were gas powered. His estimate on their speed was about 30mph in the straight-a-way. Very cool to see.

You just never know what your going to see on the other side of a crowd of people!?
