No Not Busy At All

So i dropped the kids off at 8 06am. Then i went to the grocery store to get chocolate milk for Max's cub scout meeting tonight. I dropped the milk off and quick dump meat and onion soup in the crock pot. Then went to Jo-ann fabric's to look for a pattern and fabric for Max's costume (He is in a community play - Beauty and the beast). The pattern # they gave me does not exist. Great! So I look through ALL the pattern books and find 1 that might work but Jo-Ann's does not have it in a child size. GREAT! The gal who worked there and was helping me suggested i go to wal-mart. REALLY! i said. Oh yeah no one ever thinks of wal-mart and they always have patterns in. I gave her a huge smile, thanked her and left. We live no where near wal-mart. *sigh* Off to wal-mart. Bingo!!!! Wal-mart has not only pattern i was looking for but also fabric. Excellent. Then i race home and eat a quick lunch because i have to pick Max up. The get out early because of conferences. Then Max and i get home. I vacuumed the living room, started a load of laundry, washed the base boards in the hall bathroom, scrubbed the toilet and cleaned the mirror. Then i helped Max with homework and continued making dinner. At 5 i pick up Derek from Robotics, we need to eat fast, Max needs to get dressed for cub scouts (don't forget the chocolate mail)lol if i write and say it enough i may remember to BRING THE MILK. Then i need to go to the community center and check with the costume lady to make sure the pattern i got is okay along with the fabric and take Max to his cub scout meeting at 6 30. Finally i need to get everyone home bathed, brushed and in bed.

John will come home hopefully around 8 and i will be sitting on the couch with knitting in my lap and a HUGE glass of wine in my hand.

I'm so glad that Wednesdays are my easy days ;)

How cool is it to have a mother that is aiding and abetting my yarn addiction ;)

We had a great Thanksgiving dinner. The boys and i were most thankful for John getting home from Canada in time for dinner on Thursday. In Canada they hung out on the tarmac forever and by the time they got to O'Hare many passengers were in the process of missing flights. Sadly John missed his as well. He managed to get a flight into SFO and the boys and i picked him up around 1 in the morning.

Everything worked out in the end even though we had a late morning Thanksgiving day. We had duck with gravy, roasted veggies, steamed brussel's and rolls. We even used our fine bone china!

Awwww My first stuffed animal. How cute is that! I made a little kitty. It took 2 days but only one hour of actually knitting. The head was the hardest to attach. If I make another one (both boys have requested one ;)) I think i will try to do better with the head.

My new shirt

My new shirt

Hurray, I finally got my Ravelry T-shirts. I also got one in white that says "where my stitches at?" I am a beta tester along with thousands of fellow knitters on ravelry. It is a web site where knitters and crocheters can keep track of projects, books and yarn stashes. Also you can get help on projects, chat and connect with fellow yarn junkies, get patterns and buy yarn ;) It is awesome. I'm not sure how much longer they will be in beta but someday soon anyone will be able to look at the site.

Also John's home from London!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah! The boys and i were very excited about John coming home from his business trip. Unfortunately he was very busy with meeting so he did not get to the Tower of London to get more of his favorite scotch glasses but he did see Michael Cain in a fancy restaurant.

12.42 / (17-n) = 4.14

Are you kidding me with that! OMG Derek is only 10 and he comes home with that. That is just mean.

Not to mention the upsetting of the delicate balance of knowledge in my brain.

What one does to one side must also be done to the other had to wade across the river of pink shoes, climb the mountain of yarn and swing through the forest of recipes to reach the page. The journey was fraught with danger as math clawed it's way onto the river bank kicking a pink suede size 6 sandle from it's foot. The mountain of yarn was next. The climb up was easy. Almost to easy. But looking down the mountain was so beautiful, full of rich browns and soft warm pinks. Ack, more pink! PINK! Feet slipped, down, down, down the other side of the mountain it slid gaining speed as it shot past alpaca and merino wool. The ground was coming up to quickly. In desperation it grabbed a hold of anything it could. Acrylic yarn tangled around it's neck like a noose. Luckily Math always carries a pocket knife! Cutting away the yarn carefully it reaches the ground unharmed. Math wiped the sweat from it's brow. Almost there. Quietly it entered the forest of recipes. They seemed not to mind, content to chat amongst themselves. It moved through at a steady but slow pace sidestepping a particularly hot vindaloo recipe. Up ahead it heard raised voices. "No there are 3 teaspoons to 1 tablespoon not 4!" Two dessert recipes were fighting. Using the arguing cards as a diversion it run past and out into the open. I made it. I KNOW THE ANSWER!

Thanks for the pocket knife Jen!

Put look, I can make pie!

Our first fire

It's finally cold enough to use the fireplace! We are all very excited. Usually Dad is the one to make fires but Derek and i felt up to the task.
Another first of the season, pumpkin pie, yum. The boys saw eating pumpkins at TJ's and wanted to try one badly once i told them you can make pie with them. i finally gave in and bought one (darn those puppy dog eyes!).
Once again Derek is the camera man.

Oh FYI on the pumpkin pie. Make sure you drain the pumpkin after it cools but before you puree it.

Camping with Scouts

Last weekend we went camping with a Boy Scout troop. One of the requirements for Derek to finish cub scouts and bridge to boy scouts is to spend time with various scout troops. This helps them decided which troop they would like to join.

This was also the first time we slept in our new tent! It was very roomy :) Very nice when one of your boys is a ninja sleeper.

Derek not only got to do more archery and BB gun practice, but also worked on mastering outdoor cooking. The high light of the weekend was watching the camp fire explode in a huge ball of flames when they poured bacon fat on the fire!!!!!!

This was also Derek's first video. He thought he was taking a picture ;)

Not much going on

Well we are having a slow week. Other then the car blinkers not working everything is moving along. I finished a hat for Sean and Cindy's new baby girl. I am going to try and make booty's *crossing fingers* but i decided to give them the hat now because I'm not sure how they will go. I am almost finished with one of my wrist warmers. They are turning out really nice. I did my first button hole for the thumb hole and it was not to hard. It is a bit loose but it's my first one so I am okay with that.

Last weekend we went camping with the boy scouts and i have a video but it has been so long since i put one on I can't remember how to do it ;). Once i figure it out i will post it.
