Dad is looking happy, Mom not so much.
Although getting to the top was challenging, we all had a great hike. Especially the last bit where we went home and made root beer floats ;)

All the boys having a snack
Time to break out the Salami. We also had dried dragon fruit. I've never even heard doubt it before. If you ever get a chance try it!
2 miles straight up, No Problem!
When we got going on the right trail we were off, and mostly straight up :)
Super Hiker
Then we went for a hike. The map we were using was a bit misleading and we had to back track a little.
Down by the river
We went to Sonol regional Wilderness park yesterday. The day started with a picnic by a beautiful creek.

We have a Webelos again!
Last night Maxwell became a Webelos. The program takes 2 years to complete and it is the last rank before Boy Scouts. Sorry there are no pictures :( . They did the ceremony outside and it was dark so picture Ops were not very good.

Max's Black Hole Project
Max's Black Hole report is done! Yay, we know more about black holes then you can shake a stick at. All of us went to the school open house last night where all the kids displayed their art work, science projects, and writing for the year. We also saw their first chorus performance. They were great :)
On the Home Front: Bad, very bad, super bad. A bee got into the house today. It took a while for the spray killer stuff to work and i was a bit nervous about scooping it up ( i finally decided to use a spoon) but i finally got it.

No More Cookie Dough
Okay the making tons of cookie dough then freezing it is a BAD bad idea. Instead of eating just a bit of raw cookie dough during 1 batch cookie making i have a LIFE time supply! Doh! I just have no control over my dough eating. And now i don't have a life time supply, LOL, and i also gained 5 pounds :( NO MORE COOKIE DOUGH.
Question of the Day: How come i wipe the counters down in the kitchen, leave the kitchen, come back in later and they have crumbs all over them?

More Lego
Over spring break the boys made two lego sets. They also had a few play dates, went on a hike and enjoyed an afternoon at Alum Rock park. We have not been there since we moved from the condo. The boys really had a lot of fun.

Fondue Night
Last weekend we made fondue. Wow it was so much fun. Last year we went to the Melting Pot restaurant and had a blast but it was way $$$. Luckily we knew someone who had a fondue pot we could barrow. I think that is what i am going to ask for next Christmas :)

After 12 hours if drying
So at dinner last night Derek wondered if you could dry mango (we were eating mango at the time). I said let's throw some in and find out. Mmmm. . . Yes you can and they are delicious. the grapes look good ti but still need more before they are raisins.
Other thoughts for the day: I see people at costco buying big tubs of cookie dough. I'm wondering if making dough at home would not be cheaper. Why can't i make tons of dough, scoop it into balls, freeze it and put it in a container for later? I would rather bake up 4-6 cookies at a time then 4 doz anyway. I think I am just going to do that then.

Experiments with Fruit
The boys are drying grapes in two ways. In a food dehydrator and outside. Which one will dry faster? Will they both taste the same?
Amish Friendship Bread
I made Amish friendship bread today. So how it works is someone makes a starter then let's it grow (ferment) and then after 10 days you divide it up and keep some and give the rest to friends. Then they let it grow and you grow what you kept and then you have tons of bread. I would say that it is more like a pound cake, so i guess a sweet bread. I am going to keep mine going and give some to my mom. She is going to be visiting from Iowa. The starter was a gift from my neighbor Jen. I found out that so far I am the forth generation, but Jen does not know if here friends mother in law started it or if she got it from a friend. LOL. I am going to give it to two of my friends and keep a starter. I looked it up on the internet and someone said you can freeze it. I decided I would freeze my new portion until we have eaten the loves i made today. It makes a ton, 2 big loaves. the next batch i am going to try and make chocolate!
