My intentions for this bag are to take to the grocery store. I don't know how far the news has spread but San Francisco was thinking of baning plastic grocery bags. You know if it passes in San Fran then it won't be long before it reaches us. Most stores now sell reusable bags that are made of some kind of biodegradable cloth. So i figured i would try my hand at a string market bag and save some money. I plan on making at leased 2 more.

Oh FYI at least at the IKEA in East Palo Alto you have to BUY the plastic bags they offer. My mom and i did not know last time we went. I guess it is a new thing, maybe their way of trying to discourage plastic bags. Instead of buying the bags we carefully stacked our stuff in the cart.

Oh the Possiblities

I've think i may have broken the beginner barrier in knitting. This is a big day for me. i am just over the moon. Last night i started working on the last step of my string market bag - the kitchener stitch. I've been dreading it since i started. I needed to learn it to graft the handle of my bag together. I only had 6 stitches to graft so that made it easier. My first attempt looks good. One side is a bit loose but totally acceptable. It was very late so i decided to wait and do the second handle today.

I really think i could manage a sweater at this point. The only problem is i have about a bazillion projects to do first ;)

Getting Stuff Done

The day has gone very well. I worked in Max's class for a bit then made copies of the school news letter for all the teachers to pass out. I did not even break the copier!! Then i came home and for no apparent reason i cleaned out the shed in back, moved the plants and cat boxes (so the plants get rain and NOT the cat boxes ;)), sorted and put away pool toys, washed the bin the pool toys were in and got out the leaf blower to take a picture of it (we are going to put it on Craig's list). Then i did my rounds of picking up kids dropping them off and going to get them again. Finally we had dinner, French Dip Sandwiches. Yum. By the way if your a fan of the French Dip but not of the meat try portabello (sp?) mushrooms. I sliced them and put them in with the meat. Very good. I go back and forth as to weather i like meat or not. Today not so much. For friends and family that don't know i am a closet vegetarian, mostly due to guilt. I read books about the meat and food industries then feel guilty and stop eating meat. But then i remember how tasty all the two and four legged critters are.

Mmmm, maybe there is some meat left from the Sandwiches?!

I got Derek's scarf done! Now all my boys have scarves. Once i figure out socks better everyone will get some socks, but first hats.

Pft, Monday's bite

It is not even 9am and already Monday bites. I burned my mouth on something 3 days ago so i have to drink my coffee lukewarm :( I drove the kids to school which went fine but on the way home i had to U-turn twice because i missed the post office AND the street we live on! Who does that! Geez you would think after having lived here for 2 years i would recognize my own street.

On a happy note Max got cast in the play!!!! We are so proud of him :) He along with 7 other children will be playing the towns' children. It is a chores type part. I guess most new comers start in chores parts which i think is good. It kinda eases them into a new activity without overwhelming them. What we did not expect was that he would get into the older kids play. They are running 3 sections of the play. One for the younger kids grade 1-6, middle grades 3-9 and then the older kids grades 6-12. That last section also has adults in it from the community theater group. So 250 kids tried out and ~150 got parts. Rehearsals start Oct 5th.

My final thought for the day. . . Brrrrrrrrrrrrrr could it be any colder this morning!

I am not sure this will work. I have a set of pictures but i am not sure all will show up. So i guess this will be another test. So yeah we found Max's tooth! And that tooth is taking a little vacation around the house. We have found it in several locations including the living room, dining room and finally on my desk. I wonder if his other teeth manage to make it around the house as well. Or maybe they are trying to get out!! If i were a lost tooth were would i want to visit? Hmmm. . . .

Closet clean-up

Today i think i am going to clean out my closet and semi change over to fall. I'm not sure if it is going to get warm again or not. We have been having a cold spell but my guess it it will warm up a bit. I still think it is safe to put away stuff like sleeveless and tank tops, maybe shorts to. The pool is way to cold now and i already put my swim suits away.

I may look over my shoes, just to see if there are any i have not worn in a while. This in no way means i will get rid of any!

I also want to try and finish Derek's scarf today, plus the regular stuff like dishes, laundry, vacuuming, cooking, and picking up everyones stuff.

Worst Thing Ever

The most horrid thing just happened to me. I was going through my yarn stash when i looked over at my sandal stash and considered getting rid of some shoes so i could. . . so i could . . . store more YARN! I don't know what has gotten into me. To think i would ever get rid of a pair of shoes. I just. . . I need. . . chocolate.

Help we are being held by dangours masked boys!!!

As you can see my wonderful and very smart husband fixed my flickr/blog problem. Yay! Yesterday went smoothly. By far Wednesday is the busiest day. The boys call it ouch day. It will get even worse once we get Max's schedule for the play.

My last thought for the morning, an apology . . . to coffee. I am sorry that i have forsaken you for the last two weeks. I though you were bad for me. I was wrong. You make me full of life and happy, and AWAKE.

Sleepy Morning

Every post i have to reselect the beautiful purple color i like :( There must be some way to save my setting. Hmmmm. To tired to figure it out this morning. I also can not figure out why flickr won't let me blog a picture. I did not get to bed til 12 then i woke up at 3 and could not get back to sleep. I need a nap for sure.

Well things this morning are getting off on a good note. Max lost a tooth in bed last night. That is the 2nd tooth he has lost by bed. It makes me a bit nervous. I wonder where they go. Hmmm.

Yesterday he had his call back for Beauty and the Beast. I think he will be cast as one of the townsfolk. They have been having him shake his fist and yell "kill the beast". I think he does it quite well really.

Derek is visiting a boy scout troop tonight. It is one of the requirments for his arrow of light. That is when he will move from cub to boy scout. I think he will join one of his friends troops but looking a more then one is a good idea.

I am starting one of my new jobs at the boys school today. I am making copies!!!! I am not sure how to make the sound more impressive, information specialist? LOL

John is doing fine. Sorry i can't say more then that. You know the drill.

My last thoughts for the morning: I like cream cheese. Really i do. It ranks right up there with bacon. If you could some how wrap the two and deep fry it. OH, oh, oh yummy.

Busy weekend

Well we had quite a weekend. Friday Max tryed out for a commuity play and he got a call back for today. Saturday we payed off John's car and sunday we had one of Derek's friend's birthday party to drop him at then a cub scout pack picnic. Derek had a blast at the birthday and Max, John and i had a great time at the Picnic.

My chore for this week is to figure out food for the kids during the week. We are going to have several day where we will have 30 min for me to make/heat up dinner and then we need to eat. The kids don't like many casseroles and i really do not like reheated food. I am nervous about how this is going to work. I know for sure that the stuff i do like reheated the kids won't eat, like soup and stews. I am not even sure we have time for nuggets. I think the kids are going to have to learn how to like nuked food. I noticed one of Derek's friends nuking some nuggets the other day and Derek did not seem to think that was a bad idea. I grew up with mostly homemade meals and again most were from scratch. Although we did have our fair share of ramen, cereal and Wendy's'. I guess i don't care what they eat right now as long as they eat. They are really good about eating fruit and veggies and i know that even if we don't have veggies at dinner they got them at lunch.

I also got my schedule for helping in Max's class. I am going to be the reading tutor for English as a second language kids. I am not sure what i will be doing. Then i will go and work in the office and work for 30 min.

Excited

I finally got to the place in my knitting where i messed up and had to start again. I had decided yesterday that i was going to try one more time (the 6th time i restarted) to make this pattern. If i could not manage it i was going to put it aside and move on to something else. I am so happy i figured it out. The pattern is for one of those string bags to take to the market. I have wanted to try making one for a while now. I had several problems with my first attemps, first i was doing the yo (yarn over) the wrong direction, and second i often forgot to do my 2nd yo which screwed up my psso (pass over slip stitch). I have never done lace work before and i am finding this pattern very challenging, but i think i have the hang of it now.

Oh hey look, i figured out the picture thing. Only this is the third entry i have made today but i screwed the other to up. Okay enough of my ineptness with computers, on to the days events.

So far nothing has happened, LOL.

I Have No Idea

I have wanted a blog for the longest time. Now i have one and i don't know what to say. Ohhh i can make the type a different color. Is it green. Ahhh cool. And a different font. Hmm . . . Now how to add a picture . . . I can't get it to work. Freakin computer. I was so hoping to not have to ask John. I think i figured it out, kinda . Or not. I am not sure what picture it will be. It will be a surprise! Bummer, how upsetting. I will have to get help to put pictures on. Well anyway. I wonder if i can post something then come back the same day. Did i mention i am new at this ;)
