Frogging, casting on, frogging . . .

Continue on in this manor until insane.

for some reason this hat is giving me lots of problems. I accidentally cast on 150 instead of 110. I just got so hung up on threading the 150 beads that i cast that many stitches to. so i had to take all that out and start over. but then I ran out of yarn on my cast on so i had to frog that and start again. the i had to much. *sighs* third time i got it and i was doing good until i hit my first bead row. It went fine but i forgot a yo (yarn-over) in the next row. *rolling eyes and swearing under breath*. I got on to ravelry and asked how to fix it. they got me set straight but i am going to wait until tomorrow to fix it.

Odessa hat

Saturday

Saturday was a full day with the Pinewood Derby, one of Max's performances and Burns' supper. This year for the supper we had John's parents visiting so that made it extra special. I have a picture of the table before we ate, i am just not sure where it is. I will post it when i find it :)

Sunday we thought it would be nice to take a drive up the coast and eat lunch at Barbra's Fishtrap. At the summit of the hill (mountian ;)) on 92 we were turned around by the police. We decided a little adventure was in order along with a large amount of trust in Sadie (John's car & GPS). The road she found was a 1 1/2 lane, twisty, mostly paved road, in which we encountered not only fog but a downed tree that some one had mostly cleared from part of the lane. 40 mins. later we came out onto hwy 1, WOOT!! We REALLY wanted to eat at Barbra's ;) !!!! As we pasted the intersection where we would have come out we saw a sign that said the reason the hwy was closed was a downed tree. We thought for sure it was a mud slide as we have had an enormous amount of rain lately. After we ate we decided to see if the road was open. It was, and as we passed the down tree (wow it was jinormous) we saw also that it had taken out a power line and possibly the pole as well.

Worms, Worms, Worms

Red Wigglers

So far i have fed them stale bread, egg shells, carrots and coffee grounds. They seem to really like the coffee. I will wait to feed them more until i see they are settled more and eating. The worms may not be eating because they were to cold. The one thing i have noticed is that there is a LOT of worm lovin' going on!!!!
For those that don't know i worked with a researcher who did studies with worms when i was in college. I grew very attached to the squirmy little guys so it had been really fun for me to start this project.

Triple digits!

Derek has now reach triple digits ;) We went in for a check up today for both the boys. They are growing well and Derek weighed in at 100 lbs. Max is coming along at 59 lbs. Both are passed the 70% in hight. In fact another two inches and Derek will be as tall as me.

Max's Birthday

Max's birthday was on the 9th but we did not eat the cake until the 10th. He is 9 now. Yay!!

Fish update

Our tank had a fish lice in it. I went to goggle images and looked up parasites. It is very common I guess. Now the only concern is the fish getting an infection. Sometimes the little bugger detaches from the fish. When it did I caught it in a net. Now i have it in a cup. I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm assuming it will die unless it has fishes to suck on.

Back to Normal

The kids are back in school. John is back at work. The house is nice and quiet. That seemed like one of the longest Christmas breaks ever. Most was good, but loud as we got Rock Band for Christmas. It was all good but I'm glad it's done.

Fishtank Update: Sucky fish died, and Flibby (USO's ((unidentified swimming object)) new name) unattached then reattached to a different fish.

We had a very bad storm. No trees down but we have a leaky bathroom window and also the bedroom sliding doors. Frank is coming to look at both.

Pool Watch 2008: 2 1/2 inches
We are not sure how to empty the pool to the street, (instead of it getting under the house) let's hope we figure it out in 2 1/2 inches, LOL.

Tank Gone Wild

I'm not sure i should be in charge of fish tanks. All kinds of weird stuff is going on. The sucky fish looks REALLY fat. It's tummy is so big that when she attaches to the tank with her mouth her tummy bumps the tank and her tail fin sticks out. Very odd. I think someone has deposited eggs in one corner. The flibbity jibbit has attached it's self to the tail of one of the fish and another one of the fish looks like it's bleeding by it side fin.

Will the madness ever stop?
