I finally got some needles for the rug i'm making. I put them next to some size 6 double pointed needles for perspective. They are size 35's. Now i just need to finish ripping the sheet. I have not decided if i am going to sew the strips together or not. I am thinking i will even though it will take longer. In the end it may speed up my knitting because i won't have to worried about starting new "yarn" all the time.

I'd sew the strips together before knitting. It shouldn't take too long if you use the sewing machine, and then you're right, you won't have to worry about the ends while you knit. But in addition to the Big Ass Needles, you'll also have a Big Ass Ball of Yarn!
